With each quilt we make, we have tried to expand
our horizons with new techniques and ideas. This is the second
quilt wherein we used our own hand-dyed, hand painted fabrics.
This is also one of a series of quilts on fantasy and doorways,
the other one being "Doorway
to Dreamland II". Take a close look at the
quilt, you will see so many wonderful creatures hiding amongst
the flora and fauna. This quilt is an original made from the
skilled and talented hands of the M. Deans people and Myrl's
imagination.
The "Enchanted Doorway II"
is a 90 x 90 in. quilt and won 1st place in the Group Quilt
Category during the International Quilt Association's Quilt
Festival held in Houston Texas. The award ceremony was held
on the 19th of October, 1999 and the Quilt Festival was held
on October 21-24, 1999.
This quilt can be seen on page 90 in issue No. 320 of the March
2000 copy of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. |
The Enchanted Doorway 2
The blue arch beckons
you from afar,
Drawing you deep inside,
Deeper ... ever deeper,
Into its mystical, magical realm.
All its magical wonders
appear,
Page after page, from your book of dreams.
For dreams are the magical stuff of life,
And without them, life would be cold and empty.
As a child you rapped
my knuckles,
You said, "Stop daydreaming!"
Ah Miss Victory, look where my dreams have led me,
Why didn't you join me?
